Pair of Aztec-Inspired 3D Wall Sculptures

A striking pair of three-dimensional wall sculptures by the American artist F. McLain, titled Lost City I and Lost City II. Strongly Aztec-inspired, these dramatic works are rich in texture and symbolism, each centred on a circular relief reminiscent of an ancient calendar stone or ceremonial shield.
Executed in metal and mixed media, the surfaces are deeply worked with intricate geometric motifs, stylised figures and glyph-like detailing, finished in warm bronze tones with areas of subtle verdigris that enhance the sense of age and archaeological discovery. The raised, sculptural quality gives the pieces a powerful physical presence, changing character as the light moves across the relief.
Both works are hand signed and titled by the artist and are presented in their original double-mounted frames, each measuring approximately 56 × 56 cm, with the sculptural panels themselves around 25 × 25 cm. The frames complement the pieces well, lending them a formal, gallery-ready appearance.
Designed to be displayed as a pair, Lost City I and Lost City II offer balance and visual dialogue, making a bold statement in both traditional and contemporary interiors. A rare and impressive set, ideal for collectors of architectural, tribal-influenced or mixed-media wall art, and for those seeking something distinctive and sculptural rather than purely pictorial.
