Pair of late 19th.c. Art & Crafts ash framed ladderback armchairs c.1890. Tall backs with four shaped rungs between turned stiles. Outswept arms on turned supports. Over traditional woven rush seats (height 16″). Turned front legs with nice detail to the feet. Joined with stretchers to all four sides for extra strength. Notice how the arm supports continue through the seats to the upper side stretcher as found on William Morris’ Sussex chairs. Excellent condition with only minor wear to the seats. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
