This is a pair of antique side chairs. An English, walnut buckle back seat, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1840.

Excellent colour and taste to this inviting pair of chairs
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
Quality walnut frames present fine grain interest
Rich caramel hues to the frame and cushion in aesthetic harmony

Striking buckle backs with a wide, gracefully arched crest rail
Buckle back splat with twist motif to the shaped bracket
Accentuated to the chamfered rail with lobed detail and leaf cappings
Traditionally stuffed cushion at a comfortable height of 46cm (18'')

Quality brushed velvet upholstery in good, clean condition
Accentuated with champagne-coloured brocade trim
Appealing shaped lower apron with relief carved knee decor
Tall cabriole legs at the front stood upon pad feet, gently swept pair to the rear
