Pair 19th.c. Carved Softwood Urn Stands c.1890 pair stands Italian %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Remarkable pair of 19th.c. carved softwood urn stands believed to be Italian c.1890. Standing 19½” tall, with 8½” x 13″ tops ideal for large vases or sculptures perhaps. Classical or Renaissance design after Roman sarcophagi, with exaggerated mouldings, scrolling foliate carvings, an imperial eagle to the front and rear and raised on large lion paw feet. With some obvious damage to the decoration, signs of old worm and earlier repairs but generally good condition, solid and sturdy and ready for use. Left dry and unwaxed.
Dimensions: width 16½”, depth 13″, height 19½”
