Oak Globe-Wernicke stacking bookcase
This is a good quality genuine Edwardian oak stacking bookcase made by 'The Globe-Wernicke Co, Ltd' circa
1900.
In golden quarter-sawn oak it has a moulded top above three bookcase sections each with a lift and slide door with original brass knob handles. One of the doors has an original oak panel rather than glass and all have a concealed scissor action mechanism which hooks the top of the door to the back of the bookcase so that they cannot fall out. The sides are edged with copper straps (the premium version of this popular bookcase) and the plinth base has had castors added so it can be rolled around a room (these could be taken off).
These bookcases can of course be very easily moved as each section can be separated from the next. It is also possible to add/remove sections from other Wernicke bookcases to suit your needs.
This bookcase is in very good condition with no breaks and the doors all lifting as they should. It has some light water spots and marks to the top and front.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos.
