Mahogany Square Tilt-top Table With Tripod Base

An early 19thc mahogany square tilt-top tripod table, of exceptional patina (colour), possibly from the Lancashire area.
This is an unusual table, of provincial design, made in a square form when most antique tables of this type are circular.
Also, most country pieces of antique furniture would normally be made in either oak or elm, whereas this is made from a sophisticated wood.
As you can see in photograph 1, the top is constructed with two pieces of well figured mahogany, one a large board, the other a small board. These two boards are joined to make the complete square top & this is how it was originally made.
Over the years, these boards have slightly moved, giving the table great character.
PriceSold DimensionsHeight 29.5'' / 75cm 47.75'' / 121cm (with top tilted) Width 31.75'' / 81cm Depth 32'' / 81cm Category Antique Furniture Date 1830 Mid 19th Century Antiques Material Mahogany Origin English Condition Very Good Item code as304a081 / LVS209 Status Sold
