This exceptional mahogany secretaire campaign chest exemplifies the robust elegance and practical sophistication of British military furnishings. Designed for durability and ease of transport, it features recessed brass handles, reinforced corners, and a thoughtfully arranged drawer configuration. The upper section comprises four half-width drawers alongside a fall-front secretaire drawer, which opens to reveal a fitted interior with four smaller drawers, three pigeonholes, and a writing surface. Below, two deep full-width drawers provide ample storage. The chest stands on turned feet, lending a touch of domestic refinement, while the original maker’s label confirms its provenance and quality. Notably, it lacks the usual side carrying handles—a deliberate omission found in superior-grade campaign furniture.
