WILLIAM PHILLIPS, LUDLOW Circa 1840
An oak and mahogany crossbanded Shropshire longcase clock. A swan neck hood pediment surmounted by an original brass finial. Turned mahogany hood side columns. A diamond marquetry inlay to the trunk door with rosewood crossbanding. An attractive square painted dial with floral decorations and a date aperture. A 30 hour duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
William Phillips of Ludlow is recorded in Elliott's 'Shropshire Clock and Watchmakers' book as working in Castle Street until 1851.
