Mahogany Dachluhr Biedermeier Vienna Regulator
It is a pleasure to offer this very fine true Vienna regulator wall antique clock made circa 1830 with a beautiful Mahogany and boxwood strung case which is in excellent original condition.
This particular antique clock was sourced from a private collector who bought this clock from an Austrian dealer in 2010 for 7400 Euro . A copy of the original invoice is available .
It is beautifully made and has very elegant and restrained proportions being of the Dachluhr (rooftop) design .
Austrian antique antique clocks such as this are entirely hand made and finished by time served master clockmaker and should not be confused with the much cheaper mass produced German antique antique clocks.
Austrian clocks were only made for the most discerning customers (who could afford them) and took many months to complete individually.
Subsequently they are rare items and I have spent 30 years driving all over Europe to source these antique antique clocks, particularly the finer examples.
Unfortunately there are too many people selling modern reproductions to customers.
I offer a full money back guarantee as to the authenticity of my Vienna clocks.
I also welcome any expert appraisal whatsoever.
Obviously, any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase
As you can see from the photographs the mahogany veneers used are quite exceptional with outstanding figure and colour which is enhanced by contrasting boxwood string. The backboard is veneered in flame mahogany. It is also of 6 light construction which was used in the earlier clocks. The architectural pediment is formed to run the entire depth of the case.
The clock is 36 inches long , a maximum width of 10 3/4 inches and 4 1/2 inches deep .The width at the door is only 9 wide
The hand made weight driven movement of 8 day duration is beautifully made and will be professionally serviced by Overton Clocks of Chesterfield prior to sale.
The pendulum itself is very nice , having a wood rod and a perfect brass backed bob.
The movement is mounted into the case by means of wooden brackets and seat board. The 7 inch original one piece milk glass dial is an early feature and unusual in that is is undamaged save the usual very minor marking around the winding squares and a little rubbing to the numerals. The steel hands are original .
The dial is surrounded by a very fine engine turned bezel
The condition is outstanding and the finish is as good as anyone can possibly expect and has wonderful colour. It is ready to hang straight on the wall .It is very difficult indeed to source such clocks in so good and original condition.
The proportions are perfect and is worthy of gracing the wall of the most discerning collector.
The sides of the case are glazed with boxwood stringing .
The original winding crank is present. Hopefully the images will show show interested parties all they need to see but prospective buyers are very welcome to view.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh as my photographic skills are very poor.
If the buy it now price is paid in full I will ,deliver the clock free of charge in England ,Wales and the Scottish lowlands and provide a 12 months guarantee.
Should a lesser offer be accepted it will be a trade sale with the clock being sold as described and shipping costs being the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide .
