A delightful and beautiful mid-century Lucite powder compact in super condition. The enchanting lid is decorated with a the exquisite guilloche engraving. At the outer edge a clear band of lacquered brass forms such a contrast to the elaborately engraved floral motifs seen at regular intervals around the lid. A central panel is covered with a clear Lucite dome which protects the most adorable Lucite floral arrangement. Four pale yellow leaves flower are neatly arranged around a peach coloured floral motif. All this is set atop matte silver tin foil. In the 1950s British foil was made from tin and so this is a suitable tin (10th) wedding anniversary gift. The compact absolutely gleams and great care has been taken to produce a luxurious vanity which is very appealing. The brass has a rich deep golden patina which will not tarnish. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a clear & accurate reflection. The mirror bezel is gilded. The inner lid and base have beautiful guilloche engravings. This compact will make an ideal handbag mirror or addition to any collection of vanities. The compact was coated at the point of manufacture with a layer of lacquer which means it will never tarnish or need to be cleaned.
Traditionally the 21st anniversary is celebrated by gifting items made from brass and so this would make a very special gift. This vintage powder compact measures almost 3" and weighs 86.3 grams.
