An early Victorian period small 'cottage' longcase clock. A swan neck hood pediment with the original central brass finial and patterae. A small proportioned oak case with mahogany crossbanding to the hood, trunk door and base panel. Brass capped turned hood columns. An attractive square painted dial with floral corners, date and seconds dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

John Cousens of Langport is recorded in A J Moores 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of Somerset' book as working from 1830-1861 in Bow Street. Examples of his work are illustrated in his book.

Height 6ft 5 "/ 197 cms Width (at widest point of hood) 18 " / 46 cms Depth 10" / 25 cms.
