Late 1900s Industrial Cotton Mill Wicker Basket
Late 1900s industrial wicker cotton /woollen miill wicker basket
Getting hard to find this is large one with stencilling to the front and both sides the front stencil (GWO -S ) both side are the numbers 7124 please see photos
The basket is in overall very good condition considering it’s past life in the wool /cotton mills , it has 2 leather straps to hold the lid down the left one has its buckle missing only the strap remains again see photo this is easily replaceable also the left caring handle need a little repair again easily done or just use as is this wicker basket Has wooden skids to the underside to protect the wicker from damage as they were in constant use in the mills and often dragged along the mill floor once full and then loaded onto mill carts and then distributed around the mill so workers could process the raw material into yarn
