This vintage compact is suitable for use with modern loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.
The high quality enamel 1950s Stratton IMARI 'Scone' powder compact in superb condition. The lid has the most beautiful enamel - vases of oriental flowers & foliage. The enamel is a joy to behold & there isn't any loss or fading. This very beautiful powder compact was inspired by the Japanese porcelain made in the town of Arita. Most of these pieces were exported to Europe from the port of Imari. Both the Japanese & Europeans called them Imari. In Japanese they were known as Arita-yaki. There are many types of Imari & most people in the west associate this type of porcelain with the Imari exported in mid-17th century. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent & gives a clear accurate reflection. The original sifter is in place which means this compact may still be used with loose face powder. The black felt pouch still in good condition too. The base is decorated with a fine spiral.
This vintage compact mirror measures almost 3" & weighs 93.9 grams.
