This is a large 19th century Chinese low table in solid elm with a delightful lacquered finish and good antique patina. The base, with decorative carved brackets also has two useful drawers with drop brass handles. The piece has an attractive dark reddish brown lacquer which has become rubbed and worn in places over the years, and there is some characterful wear to the top and an ageing natural shrinkage crack. The table is a great size and would make a very practical large coffee table (it is carved to both the front and back) or it would make a fine television stand or side table. It would also look very good under a window as it is quite an imposing piece with a great look.
The table measures 156 cm long 64 high and 54 cm deep.
