John Wyld of Nottingham Longcase Clock

An 8 day antique clock by John Wyld of Nottingham . With silvered brass dial and housed in an Oak case . This well known Nottingham maker was working in Nottingham in the mid 18th century. Both son and father have the same name and both were clock makers . This example is very typical of longcase antique clocks produced in the Nottingham area and would have been an expensive item .
The 8 day movement has been serviced and case ,dial and movement are all original to each other . The mainly oak case is is in very nice condition
The Brass dial is very attractive and chapter ring has bold half hour marks , also both minute and quarter hour bands . The mattered dial centre is nicely engraved and incorporates a mouth calender . Blued steel hands are original to the clock .Quarter cast spandrels are of the earn and eagle pattern C 1740.
