John Drescher, Hull Drop dial Fusee Wall Clock
A quality drop dial fusee wall antique clock. A mahogany case with the original side carvings. A cast brass bezel surround with convex glass to the domed dial. A 12" painted dial signed ' Jn Drescher, Hull' with blued steel hands. A side door and an opening bottom door. A brass surround to the visible glass pendulum aperture with brass inlaid decorations. An 8-day duration timepiece fusee mechanism. Circa 1840.
The Drescher family of clockmakers in Hull are recorded in Loomes 'Watch and Clockmakers of The World ' book as working in the 19th century. John worked from 1823-1858.
Height 19" / 48 cms Width 15" / 38 cms Depth 5 1/2 " / 15 cms.
