Unusual hinged lid work box version of the classic Arabic or Moorish inlaid side table c.1910. 18½” diameter octagonal top with raised edge. Beautifully inlaid with mother of pearl and contrasting timbers to make a geometric pattern around a central lozenge featuring a supplication to God using His name ‘The Most Generous’ in Islamic script. Opening with a key to reveal a silk lined interior with padded base. Shaped apron to the sides featuring a repeated arch borrowed from Islamic architecture, also inlaid to match. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
