Antique 19th century Indian carved horn statue mounted on a wooden base, c1890. Most probably a desk piece it depicts a Mongoose fighting with a Cobra and there is lovely detail, for instance where the snake is coiled around the Mongoose. The teeth and other features are picked out in Ox bone . The colour /patina to the horn and wood is lovely and shows its age. Overall condition is good with only minor surface wear. There are holes drilled into the underside of the wood base ,presumably where it was mounted onto something at some point in its life?
