A gentlemans compactum wardrobe made by Heal & Son of Tottenham Court Road in 1905. The central section has a cupboard with a shelf above 3 drawers flanked on either side by hanging spaces. There is a pull out hanging rail and coathooks in each robe.The central cupboard could be used as a hanging space for shirts.It is made from solid quarter-sawn golden oak with its original deep rich patina. Around the top is a chequered band of ebony andboxwood.The brass handles are original. The compactum splits into 3 sections for easy movement. This item is featured in a book "The History of Heals". It would make a wondefull hall cupboard.
