Great Gothic Coffer or Chest

A wonderful Gothic Coffer or Chest, constructed of 19th Century or earlier timbers. The front and side panels are richly detailed with turned columns and gilded carved wood foliate sprays and trefoils and it stands on turned bun feet.
I think it dates from the early 20th Century and looks fabulous!
The turned columns and gilded tracery to the front could well be Church in origin, perhaps constructed from a Church Screen. There is a great degree of Pugin influence in these details. PriceSOLD DimensionsWidth 107cm (42"), Depth 49cm (19 1/4"), Height 64.5cm (25 1/4") Category Antique Furniture Date Late Victorian Gothic, circa 1900 Early 20th Century Antiques Material Oak Origin English Condition Good overall. There is a small piece of missing gilded foliate detail to the end panel - see photo, and the base panels of the interior have lifted where they join. Not noticeable in use. Overall pretty good.
