Good 19th Century Longcase Clock John Bryson South %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A handsome mahogany Longcase antique clock with eight day five pillar movement by John Bryson of South Shields circa 1800.

The clock is a nice original example with an elegant narrow case and arched long door in beautiful flame mahogany. The case has a good colour and nice antique patina throughout. The hood has reeded columns with brass capitols and a dentil cornice with pierced fretwork to the swan neck pediment above.

The elegant dial has pretty hand painted floral spandrels and a central cartouche with a lady in Regency attire leaning on an anchor with a masted ship sailing away in the distance. This is signed to the dial Jn Bryson South Shields and has hand painted Roman numerals and its original decorative pierced brass hands.

The clock is in good running order winding once a week it keeps good time striking on a bell on the hour every hour. Early 19th Century.

This measures 234 cms high by 49 wide by 25 deep.
