Georgian Satin Mahogany Wash Stand Dressing Table
This is a good late Georgian wash stand or dressing table. It is made in mahogany and dates to around 1820. Like all Georgian antique furniture the design is simple and elegant. This dressing table stands out because of the very good satin mahogany top. The patina is opulent. The dressing table has a full length drawer (made with hand made dovetails as you would expect.) It stands on tapering turned and block legs with a lower shelf, which originally would have been used to store bowl and water jug. The lower shelf is cut in so you can draw yourself close on a stool.
The condition of the wash stand is good. No damage or worm. Well polished. Good joints.
Pieces of furniture like this can be used as a side table or small desk in a principal room or as a hall table. It would look particularly good in a bedroom with a free standing mirror or a mirror on the wall behind it.
The dressing table is wonderfully demure and will look good in a room furnished in period antiques.
The dressing table is 37 inches wide and 30 inches high and 20 inches deep.
