Description:
This is a fine quality antique Georgian solid mahogany floor standing double corner cupboard, circa 1800, incorporating internal drawers, in excellent original condition. The cupboard comprises a moulded cornice, above two cupboard sections. The upper section features tall curved, triple panelled doors. The right-hand door retains the original working lock, with working key, while the left-hand door displays a faux lock, as well as the original swinging hook latch. The doors open to reveal a four-tier bank of shelves with shaped fronts, above two internal drawers. The left-hand of the internal drawers retains its original working lock, with working key. Both drawers are hand dovetailed a feature brass knobs. The lower cupboard section comprises panelled doors, with working locking mechanism and key to the right-hand door and faux lock and swinging hook latch to the left-hand door. Inside, the lower section comprises a two-tier shelf space. The cupboard stands on its original moulded shaped plinth, while the two rearward sides retain their original back boards. The cupboard is a single-piece item however, it is still reasonably easy to carry and get through doorways, as it is narrow. The cupboard is ideal in the kitchen or dining room, and offers significant storage space. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
The cupboard boasts a mellow brown mahogany colour. As it displays the original polish it has a fantastic patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received.
