Handsome George III mahogany candle box of impressive proportions. The mahogany glows darkly and the box tapers elegantly. The superstructure has a pretty carved fantail design and a hole for hanging, if desired.
The lid is attached with stout leather ( original) and sturdy hobnails.
A lovely, country piece which would look superb next to a traditional fireplace.
The lid has an unobtrusive hairline fissure (surface only) but this is stable.
