Georgian copper flagon, Liverpool brewery.
A copper haystack measure or harvest measure made in the Georgian period circa 1810. To the front is inscribed
"No3 James Glover, Fontenoy Brewery, Liverpool"
It has a two gallon capacity and the top spout is typical of the flagons that were used in the brewing industry.
It has the seal of authority on the spout which was put there when the capacity had been validated by the Weights and Measures department.
It has a hollow handle which has at some time in the flagons life been the source of a leak which has been remedied using solder.
The seams are of the keyed design placing this flagon at the beginning of the 19th century.
It is in very good condition with the usual dents and knocks expected on a copper piece of this age and use.
The height is 14 inches or 36cms and the base diameter is 15 inches or 38cms.
It can be collected from us in the Stamford, Newark or Leicester areas or it can be couriered within the UK for a cost of £35. As it is a heavy item please request an international shipping price. For international shipping, please contact us for a price.
