George V Silver Napkin Ring, Rolason Bros, 1918
This is an attractive George V Sterling Silver Napkin Ring from the end of the First World War. The napkin ring is bobbin shaped with a central band of foliate engraving to either side of a blank cartouche. The top and bottom rims have a milled edge.
The napkin ring is made in Birmingham by Rolason Brothers and dates to 1918. Rolason Brothers were active from around the 1870s through to around 1930. They were both jewellers and silversmiths and generally made small pieces of silverware for personal use.
Condition is good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The napkin ring is 4.7cm / 1.8ins in diameter and stands 2.4cm / 0.9ins high. It weighs in at 14.5g / 0.51oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the engraved body are nice and clear to read with just a corner of the makers' mark being covered by the engraving. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter t for 1918 and the R. Bs. makers' mark for Rolason Brothers.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
