George III Silver Dessert Fork, London, 1784

This is a very good George III Sterling Silver Dessert Fork in the traditional Old English pattern. The fork is made in London by Richard Crossley and dates to 1784. Richard Crossley was a very accomplished specialist spoon and fork maker in London from around 1782 up until his death in 1815.
This is a well made dessert fork in a good gauge of silver. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind. It would make a good addition to any collection of Georgian forks.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just a small amount of wear to the tines of the fork, which is only to be expected in forks of this age, it is over 235 years old! Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The dessert fork is 15.5cm / 6.2" long and weighs a respectable 34.8g / 1.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are very slightly distorted and the makers' mark is somewhat rubbed but everything is easy to decipher. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crowned leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter "i" for 1784 and the RC makers' mark for Richard Crossley.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
