Geo III Oak Longcase Clock Thomas Lister Halifax
This George III longcase is from the well-known Thomas Lister of Halifax who was known to have been making antique clocks from 1738, with his son of the same name joining the business around 1750.
The case is of Oak and Mahogany with an inlaid shell pattern to the main door, the hood has a swan neck pediment with Brass finials and the glazed door is flanked by 2 wooden columns with brass mountings.
The arched brass dial has ornate brass spandrels this a smiling sun the centre of the arch. The face itself is ornately engraved to the centre with a silvered chapter ring with supplementary apertures for the day of month and moon phase, the later also showing a hand painted scene through an enlarges aperture.
The movement is 8 day, striking the hour on a bell. Complete with 2 weights and pendulum, having recently been serviced and is in good working order.
