Geo III Mahogany Musical Longcase Clock

A superb quality mahogany musical longcase clock, the dial signed for John Shelton, London. There were four London clockmakers all named John Shelton who were fathers and sons who worked from the late 17th Cent to around 1800. This antique clock dates from around 1780. As with most of these musical antique clocks the movement is probably later, dating from the late 19th Cent.
It has a beautifully proportioned , well figured, mahogany case in lovely original condition. It has unusual brass fish scale side frets ant very smart ball and spike finials. If you have a problem with head room the centre finial could be removed.
The 8 day movement plays a tune on either 4 or 8 bells every quarter and strikes the hour on a gong. It has a subsidiary seconds dial and the all important strike silent selector. It also has a selector for chiming on 8 or 4 bells.
The case is in excellent condition and the movement is working well and keeping good time.
The maximum dimensions are:
222cm (87.5") high excl finials, + 15cm (6")
49cm (19") wide
25cm (10") deep
Free local delivery (70mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.
