Gents 9ct gold Eterna wrist watch for Garrard
Gents 9ct gold Eterna wrist watch for Garrard.
The watch has a signed automatic movement, the 25-jewel calibre 2824, which is working nicely.
The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9ct gold and is hallmarked inside the case back for London (import mark), 1973, and it also carries the Eterna Watch Co name. The case has the odd minor mark but nothing too serious at all. The back of the watch has a long service inscription from The Distillers Company Limited, a leading Scottish drinks and pharmaceutical company later taken over by Guinness. The winding crown is a later plain replacement.
The lens is in good condition.
The dial is signed with the Eterna name, and it also has the name of the original retailers of the watch, Garrard.
Garrards was founded in 1735 by George Wickes. They designed, manufactured and retailed luxury antique jewellery, silver and watches. The company is still trading today and as well has having their headquarters in Mayfair, London, they also have a presence in Harrods, London, Geneva, Lebanon, Qatar, Dubai, Moscow and Hong Kong. Garrard was the Crown Jeweller of the United Kingdom, charged with the upkeep of the British Crown Jewels from 1843 to 2007.
The dial has some age related marking and discolouration. Quickset date (set at first position).
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in its Garrard presentation box.
