This fine French snuffbox shows a detachment of French guards in front of the palace at Versailles. Elsewhere Guards are laying down their arms whilst others are freed from prison. Above the scene is a burst of victorious sunlight. Silver plated steel or pewter lid and base with the sides of bois durci. Circa 1845
