A very pretty small gilt metal "tussie mussie" posy holder with original securing pin on chain and a looped clip at the back to attach to clothing or a purse. The body is formed from scrolled filigree panels with embossed acorns and pierced embossed sections with floral decoration. The tail is tightly coiled with a finely detailed textured pattern. Unmarked, French, c.1880.

It measures 8.5cm (3 3/8") long and 2cm (3/4") wide. It weighs 18g.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair there isn't any sign that it had a finger loop originally and the clip at the back also suggests this was not a hand held posy holder. Minor handling wear only. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
