Follit of Lichfield Automaton Georgian Longcase
A Georgian automaton longcase clock. An oak case with a flat moulded hood pediment and brass capped side columns. Rear quarter columns. Walnut crossbanding to the golden oak case and a raised plinth panel on shaped feet. An arched brass and silvered dial with 'Time Flieth' rocking father time to the aperture. A well engraved seconds dial and date aperture with blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Thomas Follit of Lichfield is recorded in Mc Kenna's 'Clockmakers and Watchmakers of Central England' book as working from 1750-1773.
