We are offering for sale this very well executed portrait oil on canvas by the Belgian artist and teacher Flori Aerts, who has signed the portrait in the upper right hand corner. The painting depicts a bust length portrait of an well dressed elderly gentleman, with mutton cop whiskers terminating in an exuberant white beard. He has brown eyes and is wearing pince-nez spectacles with gold rims. He is wearing a wool jacket, with a wing collared shirt and the bar of a watch albert through his lapel.

Flori, or to give him his full name, Florimond Aerts, was born in Bruges, Belgium, in 1877. He studied at the Academy in Bruges 1890-1899 and at the Academy in Brussels under H. Richir 1899-1902. He worked in the studio of Flori Van Acker 1904-10-8. He became well known as a portraitist. He became drawing master in the Academy in Bruges in 1915. He died in 1934.

The painting is newly framed in a 2 1/2 inch bronze ornate frame to suit. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.
