Fine Walnut Fusee Mantle Bracket Clock
This is a very fine English mantle/bracket/library antique clock dating from the second half of the 19th Century in really super condition.
This double fusee chain driven 8 day duration movement strikes the hours on a bell movement .It is of typical high quality as produced in London at the time and is in perfect working condition.It can be viewed on all sides and the top through the thick bevelled glasses and this design is very often refered to a as a library clock as many gentlemens librarys were furnished with such an item.
Of typically English restrained style the the overall quality and condition is outstanding with the case being veneered in some of the best Burr (Burl) veneers I have seen.The variation of colour and varied grain have produced a particulary nice case being the colour of a good cigar.The original finish is exceptional with a good deep shine.
The 6 inch silvered and engraved brass dial has very good clarity.It is unsigned as many antique clocks were supplied to retailers by firms such as Thwaites and Smiths and the retailers name was often applied.
I am afraid that my limited photographic skills do not show this clock at its best and the original finish is excellent with a good shine.This clock needs no restoration and is ready to be displayed.
The movement is in fully functioning condition..
