FINE VERGE BRACKET CLOCK - Jourdain , London
This is a fine English bracket antique clock dating from the second half of the 18th Century made by William Jourdain (2) of London which is of superb quality and interesting design.
The case is made from oak and veneered in mahogany which is a lovely colour (well represented in the images and would also match with walnut furniture) .
The inverted bell top is summounted by a handle . All four corners are reeded and canted and there are four brass finials to the top of the case.
?The sides are glazed in order to view the movement as is the rear door. I am particular fond of the pierced mouldings around the base which is a very unusual feature.
Many of the mouldings are made from short grain which is again very unusual for a clock of this age.
?The 7 inch brass chapter ring and spandrel dial is signed on a cartouche by the maker. The centre is well matted and has a mock pendulum aperture below 12 oclock and date above 6 oclock.
?The twin fusee 8 day duration bell striking movement has verge escapement with a beautifully engraved backplate and a pull repeat facility
?The clock is 19 inches tall (handle down) and 2 inches taller with it extended . The width is 13 inches and the depth 8 1/4.
Like all antiques there are the odd age related marks as can be expected on any item of this age but I am certain that the most discerning client will not be disappointed.
?This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarrantee to this end.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
If the asking price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide .
UK buyers are asked to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible.
