Exceptional Walnut Treen Riddle Board c1790
This is a piece from our private personal collection and one we have loved for many years - A stunning Scottish or North of England Walnut Riddle Board c1790 previously of the Highly Renowned W.J Shepherd Collection of Treen sold by Sotheby’s in 1983. Complete with original collection label to rear this is an exciting and rare opportunity to purchase something truly special with the very best provenance possible.
Riddle boards were used in the making of oatcakes and bread throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.
A very pretty and decorative piece with the most incredible look. In outstanding original condition with just a short historic shake to the lower edge, with amazing character, gorgeous grain and the most incredible colour and surface.
