A round dial wall antique clock retailed by Ellis Brothers of Exeter. A walnut case with a brass bezel insert surround. The original painted dial over glass signed 'Ellis Bros. Exeter' with blued steel hands. An octagonal case to the rear. A convex glass to the front. An original 8-day duration French mechanism of good quality striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a gong. Circa 1885.

Ellis Brothers of Exeter are recorded in Ponsfords' 'Devon Clocks and Clockmakers' book as working from 1830-1905. They are noted as importing a selection of antique clocks.
