Here is an example of a good quality antique Victorian walnut and green leather Edwardian pedestal office desk, circa 1900. The desk boasts a good quality aged green & gold tool leather insert to the desktop, which is in excellent condition. Surrounding this is a walnut frame, which terminated in a chamfered moulded edge. Below, the two pedestals contain 9 large working drawers to the front on one side. The drawers are hand dovetailed and lined with mahogany (a sign of good quality). The drawer’s feature the original Edwardian brass back-plate escutcheons connected to brass drop down handles. There are only drawers to one side of the desk. Below, the pedestals feature the original rectangular plinths and original brown ceramic mug castors. This is a single piece desk. This style of desk was designed to sit against a wall.
As this item boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.

Condition This desk is in very good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and plinths but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The leather and gold tooling top is in excellent condition and is free from any stains, marks or damage. We can replace the leather with a colour of your choice if you prefer - please contact us for a quote. As this item retains the original polish, it has a stunning colour and patination. This stunning colour can only be found in furniture with its original polish it cannot be recreated with new polish. All drawers close flush to the frame and feature the original brass handles. The desk stands on its original brown mug castors. Free of woodworm, solid in joint the desk does not wobble and is ready to use.
