Description
Here is a very good quality antique Edwardian inlaid mahogany two-seat salon couch, circa 1900, originating from England, UK, which is in excellent condition. The couch is constructed of solid mahogany, with satinwood string inlay and centralized inlaid fan motifs to the backs of the upright section with splayed arms. The couch has been freshly upholstered in top quality gold silk brocade upholstery, displaying a geometric pattern, finished with matching gold braiding. This upholstery would have reflected the original style of upholstery used. The underside of the seat has been re-webbed in the traditional manner, using hessian, to ensure the seats are comfortable but secure at the same time. The couch stands on elegant tapering string-inlaid mahogany legs.
The couch features a mellow mahogany brown colour. As its boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This couch would look superb in any drawing, parlour, living room or orangery. This item would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are an extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.

The couch is in excellent condition having just been professionally reupholstered. Therefore, the upholstery is new and free from damage, rips, and marks or fading. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There is no missing inlay to the frames. The frames and arms are solid and in excellent condition with no breaks, splits or lose movements. The couch sits firm on the ground and does not wobble. As the couch boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic mellow colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning it has received.
