Superb Edmund Thornton Crawford oil on board depicts a serene countryside scene with a small stream flowing under a wooden bridge. On either side of the stream, there are lush trees and foliage, creating a verdant, green environment. To the left of the bridge, there is a quaint house, while to the right, there is another building, possibly a barn. The sky in the background is partly cloudy, contributing to the calm and peaceful atmosphere. The use of colour, light, and texture in the painting highlights Crawford's skill in capturing the beauty of natural elements. The painting, well-preserved and encased in an ornate gilt frame, promises to be a striking addition to any wall.

Edmund Thornton Crawford (1806-1885) was a distinguished Scottish landscape and marine painter. Born in Cowden, near Dalkeith, Scotland, he initially apprenticed as a house-painter in Edinburgh.
