Early 20th C. Brass Matchbox Holder, c.1900s-30s

This is a delightful Early 20th Century Brass and Silver Plate Matchbox Holder from Sri Lanka. The holder has the Sri Lankan national symbol of the lion on one side and a bird on the other, both picked out in silver plate against a textured background.
The matchbox holder was made at the Kandyan Art Association in the city of Kandy and dates to around the 1900s to 1930s. Founded in Kandy, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1882, the Kandyan Art Association was set up to revive, preserve and promote traditional Kandyan arts, crafts and techniques and to provide workshops for artisans to work in, offer instruction and sell their wares from.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, just a small amount of silvering loss on the bird's tail and beak and the overall superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The matchbox holder is 5.3cm / 2ins long, 3.8cm / 1.5ins high and 1.7cm / 0.67ins deep. It weighs 39.2g / 1.4oz.
The holder is stamped on the side at one end with the Sri Lankan lion holding a sword and K.A.A. for the Kandyan Art Association.
Shipping in the UK is £6.00 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
