Early 19th Century Silk Work of Vase with Flowers
This is a large, fabulous early 19th century English silk work of a vase with flowers, with decorative elements in the corners and sides, on a cream coloured background within a glazed and painted contemporary gesso and wood frame. Stylistically, it is looking back to the Jacobean period with the stylised flowers worked in different coloured silks which now have a lovely muted appearance.
This is an impressive piece which we think would work just as well in a modern interior as one with more traditional furnishings.
An old and damaged label on the back (now protected behind plastic) is for "Alfred J Mucklow, Many Years Manager for PAGE Coventry Street, Frame Maker and Dealer in Works of Art, Carver & Gilder, 35 Cranbourn St, Leicester Square, London W".
Dimensions: Width 80.5 cm x Height 63 cm (31 3/4 inch x 24 3/4 inch)
Weight 5.46 kg
Condition: The silk work is in very good antique condition with no losses. The picture was taken apart in our workshop and the glass cleaned before being put back together again. Traditional framer's paper tape was used to seal the back. The frame must have been painted many decades ago as it is naturally distressed through age. It is ready to hang. Please contact David if you would like to see further photographs.
Delivery: This large and heavy picture can be delivered for £50 to most places on mainland England and Wales by our delivery person, who is an expert on transporting antique furniture and works of art. Please contact us to confirm delivery cost.
