Early 19th Century French Walnut Commode
An Early 19th Century French Walnut Commode of Empire Style with Original Marble Top.
The commode features one drawer in the frieze section and then a further three drawers below. The beautiful original marble top is of great quality. The drawer fronts are veneered in very nicely figured walnut of warm and rich colour with great depth. The drawer fronts also incorporate contrasting stringing and the metalwork is of high quality, the cast escutcheons and laurel wreath handles being very well made.
The piece stands on four feet, the front pair being carved animal paws and the back pair plain square examples.
