A beautiful Victorian cotton reel stand in excellent condition. The cockatoo has its original deep red glass eyes which have no chips or scratches. As can be seen in the photos, the head lifts to reveal a thimble holder. The original tin liner for the holder is present and secure and the hinge for the head works well and closes nicely. The cockatoo sits on a perch with a red velvet pin cushion at either side. Below are further perches for placing cotton reels. The circular base sits on three small brass ball feet. The height of the stand is 33.5 cm and has a maximum width of 15.5 cm. The diameter of the base is also 15.5 cm. The cotton reels are included in the sale.
