Chippendale Period Mahogany Architect’s Table

A fabulous Chippendale Period Mahogany Architect’s Table with a double rising easel top which can be used on either side and a pull out drawer retaining the original important brass handle and locking plate, supported on the split section front legs and having a retractable baize lined slide with a further easel support above various compartments, small drawers, quadrant ink drawer and two sets of pull out candle slides, the legs all with inner columns and retaining the original brass barrel castors. All the pulls on the slides and drawers are original as well.
Circa 1760
H: 32” 81.5cms, W: 36” 91.5cms, D: 24” 61cms.
Note: Apart from the superb timbers used a true indication of the quality of this piece is the use of brass tips on the inner drawer easel feet and on the curved top easel supports. These would have been expensive “extras” and not deemed necessary on a lesser piece as would the 3 way easel to the top.
