This is a very good quality and completely original antique English oak Charles II primitive countryside table, circa 1670.

This is a very good quality and completely original antique English oak Charles II primitive countryside table, circa 1670. This table would have been used in a country property in in England during the late 17th Century. The table features a thumb mouled two-piece pegged top. Below, there is a single working drawer, which still retails the original oak hand dove tailed drawer linings. Below the drawer is a primitive shaped frieze. The drawer boasts the original bass swan neck and escutcheon handles along with the original lock (this is very rare to see!). There is also a working key to the lock. The table has been handmade using the pegged construction method this is evident on the top and the frame of the table. The table stands on four small elegant turned legs, which are united by connecting stretchers for strength. The table boasts a superb mellow oak colour and is in excellent original condition.
This item features a mid brown to mellow oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, living room or the hallway. The desk would certainly grace any home or office and a great investment, as they are an extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.

Condition Considering its age, this item is in excellent original condition. There are no stains or cup marks to the top of the table. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The working drawer features its original brass escutcheons and brass handles which is rare to see with an item of this age. The drawer is in good working order and closes flush to the frame. The drawer also features the original working lock and there is also a working key. Free of active woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
