Ceylonese Ebony Sofa & Chairs.
A rare suite of colonial Ceylonese solid ebony furniture comprising of a sofa and two chairs with open caned back, side and seats retaining their original coconut seat pads.
They are charmingly naively carved throughout with a central scallop shell and leaves and flowers covering most of the exposed surfaces. The sofa especially has a forward inclination caused through age and use. C1865
