Circa 1900, a light coloured carved oak monks bench. The bench has double top panels depicting scenes with carved figures dancing, drinking and smoking. There is a double fielded panel seat which is hinged and opens to reveal an uninterrupted interior. From the upright there are 2 shaped arms, and panel gables with carved rondels at each end. To the front of the bench there are 3 further well carved panels depicting people eating, dancing and working. Beneath this there is a beaded edge and the whole piece stands on the front on 2 turned bun feet and at the back 2 simple rectangular feet. The neat size hall bench is clean and sturdy.
Size 96cm high x 105cm wide x 40cm deep.
