C19th Continental Fruitwood Drop-Leaf Dining Table
This attractive drop-leaf table is an antique continental piece dating from approx. 1890. It is constructed from some type of solid fruitwood. The table has an round top with a shaped edge and a drop leaf at either side. The leaves are supported on pull-out wooden slides with metal handles. The table has lovely turned and reeded legs, which have the remains of red rubber feet on the bottom. It is a nice small size and would seat four people when opened up.
Condition Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition, but does have some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and some quite heavy scratching and knocking to the top. The table is quite heavily faded, and the top is a little uneven. There are a couple of areas of wood loss to the top (these are part of the wood and would have been there at the time of manufacture), and some wood shrinkage splitting. There are some signs of old woodworm - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution. There is an area of wood loss to one of the feet.
The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 57cm high, 54.5cm wide (closed), 97cm wide (open), 97cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
